“…Come and See…”
St. John 1: 39
“Come and see.” These are the words which Christ spoke to those who wanted to know where He was. Even today, these are the very same words which The Church, who is both the Body and Bride of Christ, says to all who seek to know where God is. These words are a proclamation as well as an exhortation. Firstly, they proclaim the presence of Christ in the midst of the Worshipping Community, His Church. Secondly, these words beckon all to come, see, and experience the Christ who is worshipped in “spirit and truth”.
Now, you may have come across this website, the online “face” of our parish (and by extension, though in a small way, of The Church itself) quite accidentally. Or perhaps you needed to be here for some reason. Whatever the cause may be, the reality is that you are here, and you are reading this. Which means, perhaps even unbeknown to yourself, you are searching for something. It may be peace, joy, comfort, consolation, love or something else entirely. Whatever it may be the truth is, we are all searching. Blessed Augustine of Hippo says “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”
The answer to our searching is in Christ Our Lord who says “ Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It all begins with the same call to simply “come and see”. I hope and pray this website will encourage you to come and experience the love God has for each of us in His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, Who is ever present in His Church. To Him be all glory, honor, and worship along with His Father and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever.
Amen
